Drew’s year in Pictures 2009
I decided that I wasn’t going to write a New Year’s post. I will instead post some pictures that I took in 2009. I added a new country, started a great relationship, celebrated ten years at the office, in a new job and sold my car. So much more happened but instead of telling you I’m going to show you. We will be back to our scheduled program on Monday. New Blog post Merging departments.

Fridays at the office
Well so I was at the office past my flex time and decided to take some photos. Let me present to you my two Producers. They are a lot smarter than I which is why we keep them around. That’s Travis on the left and Erin on the right. Happy Saturday. Do something fun today. Oh and Sundays are creativity education so check it out. peace.

Hobbies are good for the soul
I’m finding that hobbies are good for the soul. For a while I was the type of person that thought hobbies were… well ….stupid. Stupid may be kinda harsh but that’s just how I felt. That was until I started to throw my self into one. There is a benefit that it may help me in my job but that isn’t the main reason. We all need a little outlet. Especially when you work in a creative environment. When you are always having to create because of your job you get creation fatigue. I think I just just made that up. No, blogging is not that outlet. It’s taking pictures. I like it. I like buying stuff to take better pictures. What better way to learn. I need to print more. When it just lives on a screen its really not that cool. I’ve also started to randomly design websites. I know nothing about proper design of websites but I think that’s the point. I read and watch stuff and just do it. I like it… its my hobby. That brings me to another thing. So Cowert a dude some of us follow on twitter started this thing called Help-Portrait. Not going to explain I will just put the link to the video you can watch for your self. Chappy at ericchapmanphoto.com and I are trying to work this out for December. It’s going to happen. I’ve got a couple irons in the fire about it. This isn’t what the post is about….but I wanted you to be aware of what creatives are trying to do. This post is about finding yourself a hobby. We all can’t live to work. I’ve done that for far too long.
Photos
Well for some reason the weekend has gotten away from me. There is something I do want to tell you all about but I’m going to need some time. For now here are some photos that I took this past week. These pictures are significant because while I was taking them my car was being locked in a lot next to the Fire house shelter. Oh and to add to the story I had to climb over the fence to get my computer. Yes it was a barbed wire fence. When I hit the ground of course the alarm went off. I waited for the cops to tell them it was me. All the while I was stared at because I was the idiot that set off the alarm that they all had to listen to while waiting for their dinner. That is a whole other story. Yeah fool. Anyway her are the pictures.
The Magazine Time
I broke down I finally did it. Paying news stand price just seems to be a waste and for 20.00 I bought a whole year’s worth of Time Magazine. Here is why I like the magazine. It’s always current and for a leftist like me I like the view point. Ok I really dont know if they’re a leftist rag I just like saying that. I’ve always been a fan but for some reason I stopped subscribing. I took it back up a couple weeks ago and haven’t looked back. I would say that I’m more of a magazine reader than a book reader. Its because books they like to take their time where as magazines have to get to the point and I like that. The one I’m in the middle of is about the American woman. I may need some help in that. The photography is always amazing. I know I could do all that off the web. But, there’s some thing about not having a load time… All I have to do to go back to another page is to turn. I’ve been thinking a lot about the kindle. Oh and if you dont have the app you need to get that. Its free guys. Well its late and for some reason i’m still up. I will sleep real will today. I saw the liar movie. I’ll you about that later.
Lucky for you on this Saturday morning you get a chappyphoto special. He makes the link of the day.
Show and Tell
So I’ve been real busy. I have decided to take photography seriously. If it is something that I want to be good at then I need to throw my self into it. Not just a hobby but an expression. I’ve increased my reading to get better at the technical side. So here is a picture that I worked on. It’s on my flickr but I thought it wold be cool to show them here so here they are. Oh and something else I’m doing. If you want some free Christmas pictures call me up. If I’m free i’ll take your pictures. Yes you heard me right if you would like some free Christmas card pictures look me up. Anyway first is the before and then the after.
Past Week project
So i’ve been doing a little volunteer project. A week ago Hannah asked me if I would take some pictures of a cd project that she was working on for her group. I was about to divulge even more but this isnt my diary this is a a little less than that. Any way I’ve been taking pictures for that. So because this is Saturday how about I just show you some pictures. I’ve put some on my facebook so you may see some repeats.
Haiti
I had forgotten about this trip to Haiti. It will be a year November when I made that trip. It was a trip that changed a lot about me. I need to remember. When people ask me about it I say it is the one of the darkest places that Ive ever been. But the more I think about it the more I realize that it wasn’t all dark. I know compassion isn’t that dark and I saw them So what is it that I concentrated on so hard that clouded my vision? If there is no darkness would I know where the light is. I hope so. The picture above is one of the churches that we visited.
