History
“We would rather have poverty in freedom than riches in slavery,” the country’s independence leader, Sekou Toure, told the then French President General Charles de Gaulle in 1958.
I sometimes wonder what my life would be like if I kept up with my love of history. I heard this quote on Friday during a broadcast about conflict happening in Guinea. How bold is it for someone to want freedom so much that you would give up everything they had. They got what they asked for, poverty and what’s worse is poverty begets corruption when the haves and the have-nots begin to struggle to keep what they have or get what the other has. And then history rolls on and memory becomes all consuming as revenge is the only trait that used. You look a this and you dont know how to help. You dont know what’s the best way to tackle this situation. We can solve this
