Oprah
Ok so Im not usually a guy who gives up on a show. Wait a second I have invested too much time in the show to give up. I was informed that the lady that got kicked was non other than the wheel chair lady. I love editing. I went to the discussion boards. Wow what have a become to see what the big deal is. People have asked for the head of Oprah Win a fry. Don’t worry oprah because i will stick with you. Here is what I think. The team that raised all that money really didnt do all that. Two people I think gave them 70,000 each. so 140,000 came from two people. You’re right its all about money and fund raising. Maybe they should do a challenge where money is not involved. Hmmm Oprah. We’ll see how that works out. Ok enough of that. I have done two things today. 1. I made a purchase. I’ll talk about that tomorrow. 2. I just got my pest control contract. What the freak. I feel I have just been robbed. Now I know why my dad walked around in a chemical suit. More on that later. Really seriously. PART ONE
Ok. folks another night another big give. but I will just give a pre-show and post. The J man is over tonight so I wont be rude. Anyway they groups up together. One group got Andre Aggasi and another got Tony Hawk. I’m going to pick the Tony Hawk group. The other group is going to be fighting it out. Let the games begin.
Crap. I may have messed up I should have looked at the guys. Now I don’t now who will win. The wheel chair lady just said she is a fixer and she couldnt fix her wheel chair. Oh did you know that she is in a wheel chair.
Well it looks like I have missed the end. the dvr did not tape it so I really dont know how it ends. Anyone out there know what happened ?
The A-team
Ok folks this is a shout out to this team. We’ll start from left to right. That’s my friend Nick. Nick and I have disagreements all the time but most of the time its because I’m trying to understand what he’s talking about. He’s real smart and knows more about video than most video guys who know video. A trait that he likes to talk about is that he directs like he’s directing choir. Next to him is Ben. Ben I started calling granola. He’s not really like that I just like to call him that because he likes to hike and hang out outside. he’s one of those straight funny guys or a least he makes me laugh. Next to him is Andy. Andy… I can never really put my finger on it. He has quirky sense about him. He loves texting. Wait let me repeat he loves texting. Next to him is Jarrod. Jarrod is married and I would say is the papa of the actors. Not just the oldest but I would say a really cool uncle. He used to be a youth minister. Its good to have him on the other side. Next up is Shorty. Shorty is a good guy who tries really hard to be a good guy and ends up doing it. Just a second ago he brought us water and one of those flavor things. He’s just a nice guy. Next to him Is Jo Lynn. I always say she is older but she’s not she’s just more mature than I am. From the moment she started with us she has been a joy to be around…even when she gets on me. Next is me so I got nothing to say but aint he sexy. Hey ladies I love it when you ask me out. i dont look down on you. Ok after me is Stacie. Stacie just got a nose ring and it looks great. Stacie is a full throttle kind of girl. She loves big. She is one of those girls that I would say is just cool. It maybe because of the nose ring. Kurtis is the guy next to me. I would call him a big teddy bear. When you hear big laughter somewhere on tour its probably him. He’s they guy you want sitting at your table because you know you’ll be having a good time. Infront of Kurtis is Lonnie or Lauren. Lonnie shows on her face when she’s thinking. She can go from 0 to 100 in two seconds. Lonnie makes me nervous because she’s cool so you dont want to act stupid around her. Next to lonnie is a girl named Whitney. Whitney and I have a running joke about how much we don’t like each other or that we have serious problems with each other. Its all an act. Whitney has been in love with me for so long. Ok folks Im just kidding. Whitney is really cool. I’ve enjoyed getting to know her. Like Andy she loves something She loves working out. I mean she loves working out. Behind Whitney is Jason. He has been my technical savior. I rarely have to worry about if something is not done. I don’t know about most of the things that he does. We have become good friends I think. I trust him and I hope he trusts me. Next to Jason is Geoffrey. Geoffrey is a guy I had always wanted him to work for us. From the first time when he did a short film for us I wanted him to work for us. I always like what he does on stage call me crazy. Ok I’ve wanted to get to her. Infront of him is a girl named Kayla is a Joy to be around. No matter what she says she is a pick. Whoever makes a move on Kayla will not be disappointed. There are girls that I meet that I say. Wow you’re great. Well she is one of them. So guys you better be pretty good. Next to Kayla is ball of energy John. John goes a hundred miles a minute. He also goes above and beyond. He’s that guy that fills in the gaps. When you are wondering who did that i twas probably him. Behind him is Matt. He’s our FOH sound guy. He has a quirky personality about him. I like him. He cares about what he is doing and never really gets that upset and that’s what I like about him. Ok folks we are almost done. Next to Matt is Ross. Ross is our monitor engineer. So he has seen the program from back stage most of tour. He’s a good kid who is finding his way. I like it when people come to work for us and find a new passion or they get energized about an old one. Check out his blog from my blogroll. Last but not least is my friend Jared. Jared is our resident abercrombie dude. Loves people and what he is doing. I hope he finds his way overseas. He has a been a joy to work with and I look forward getting to know the kid more. Ok well that’s the team. A great group of young people that gave up their weekends to do what we are doing right now. They have shown me how to serve and I would not do it with any other team. Getting back in it with these guys is great. A little update. Whitnety just came up and we played the same thing. She says why arent you working and I say you will feel bad when you find out what I’m doing . She went away laughing. Fun times.
Another day
I’m watching the “Fog of war” as i work on a drama that I hope to pitch for camp. Its a documentary on Robert McNamara. He was secretary of defense during Kennedy and Johnson administration. It discusses the nuclear arms race. He discusses how we came close to war with Russia three times. War no one wins. Great documentary. More need to be like this. I spent the day at home writing a little reading a little. The part of writing I hate the most is research I better get back to it. If you guys know of anyone from India that live in Birmingham let me know. Some that has recently arrived would be great. I need everyone to watch this movie and superimpose what is happening in the world today.
A little taste
Sunday continues to be the most segregated times of the week. Every sunday morning our respected races go to our church. We take our places and talk about changing the world. I think we would chalk it up to we all worship different so this is our way of worshiping next to people who and feel like us. Enlightened ones realize that all black, chinese, white, etc. dont all think the same. That’s about as stupid as you are trying to talk black or why you trying to act white. Take the company I work for. When I am asked hey can you take more pictures of minorities to show all races I say “well I would be taking pictures of the same groups” and then I say they dont come. For the few that do come you may ask do I go out of my way to encourage them and welcome them. I would ask welcome them to what. I have pitched people of color groups on the stage only to be told that our guest arent into that stuff. I almost went too far. I have lived in a weird sort of world all my life. I was born in Jamaica to great parents that divorced when I was in I think 6th grade it was uneventful. I dont even remember it. Anyway they taught me to be me. Never pushed who I should be with or even question me about who I dated. That is another story. Anyway I never understand why people are so scared to talk about race. Its usually people who never had to deal with it so they ask what’s the big deal. When when you’ve been called a nigger on the basketball court you end up having to deal with it. When I walk in downtown birmingham you can feel it. Race is still factor. Every time you that hair stands up on the back of your neck when you take the wrong turn in a neighborhood. Race is still a factor. Our company does try. They really do. I am proud of that. But there is still room. That goes from the music we put on the stage to the people we have speak to students to even how the message is crafted. So what do I think of Race Im voting for Obama because he’s black. Gotcha. Oh and I’m not scared of talking about Politics either. Im proud to be in a country where we can have a knock down drag out fight with politics and no one has to die. I know strange to be proud of that but I am. Ok Im at the end of the line. I’m proud of my self I think. Look people. Be proud of what we have done and will do. Tune next time when we talk Colonialism and how it still effects Africa today. More than you know it. I’m also still adhering to my no read policy so if there is a didn’t that should be a did. you know what I mean.
